FAQ
Logistics FAQs:
Q: Do you offer virtual or in-person sessions?
A: Currently, all sessions are offered virtually. This allows us to work together from the comfort of your own space, no matter where you are.
Q: How long are sessions and how often do we meet?
A: Sessions are 1 hour long. The frequency of sessions can vary based on your needs, but most clients meet weekly or bi-weekly to stay on track with their goals.
Q: What are your fees and do you accept insurance?
A: I accept some insurance plans, and for those who prefer to pay out-of-pocket, the cash pay rate is $100 per hour. Please feel free to contact me directly to check if your insurance is accepted.
Q: What is your cancellation or rescheduling policy?
A: I ask that cancellations be made at least 24 hours in advance to avoid a $75 fee. If you need to reschedule, please do so at your earliest convenience, and we’ll find a time that works for you.
Q: How do I book or change an appointment?
A: You can easily book or reschedule your appointments through my Headway website. Just visit the booking page, and you’ll be able to choose a time that works for you.
Q: Is therapy confidential? What are the exceptions?
A: Yes, therapy is confidential. The only exceptions to confidentiality are if there is a risk of harm to yourself or others, or if you give me permission to share information with others (such as a medical provider or family member).
Therapy Process FAQs:
Q: How do I know if therapy is working?
A: Progress in therapy looks different for everyone, but signs often include feeling more grounded, gaining insight, or responding to challenges in new ways. We’ll check in regularly to make sure our work is aligned with your goals, adjusting as needed. Growth isn’t always linear—but you won’t be navigating it alone.
Q: What kinds of therapy approaches do you use?
A: I blend clinical expertise with creativity, using a mix of evidence-based practices and intuitive techniques. My approach is flexible and always shaped by what makes the most sense for you. Whether we’re simplifying complex patterns or exploring deeper roots, it’s all done collaboratively and at your pace.
Q: How long will I need to be in therapy?
A: There’s no set timeline. Some clients come for short-term clarity around a specific issue, while others value ongoing support. We’ll work together to find a rhythm that feels right for your goals, energy, and season of life.
Q: Can I talk about anything in therapy?
A: Absolutely. This is your space, and nothing is off-limits. You’re welcome to bring in whatever feels important—big, small, confusing, or even hard to say out loud. Everything you share is treated with care and respect.
Q: What if I don’t know where to start?
A: That’s totally okay. You don’t need to have it all figured out. We can start wherever you are—even if that’s just sorting through the fog. Together, we’ll gently untangle things and move toward clarity, one step at a time.
Q: Do you assign homework or exercises between sessions?
A: Sometimes, if it feels helpful. I may offer journal prompts, grounding practices, or creative reflections to support your process between sessions. But nothing is mandatory—we’ll decide together what feels supportive, not overwhelming.
Emotional Safety FAQs:
Q: What if I feel nervous or overwhelmed about starting therapy?
A: That’s completely normal—and actually a sign that you care about this process. You don’t have to come in feeling ready or confident. Just come as you are. We’ll take it slow, and I’ll meet you with patience, not pressure.
Q: How do you create a safe and judgment-free space?
A: I lead with curiosity, compassion, and respect. You won’t be judged or rushed here. I’m committed to creating a space where you feel seen, heard, and free to explore at your own pace—whether you’re sharing something for the first time or just sitting with what’s hard to name.
Q: What happens if I get emotional during a session?
A: That’s welcomed here. Emotions are a natural part of healing, and you don’t have to hold them back. You’ll never be asked to “keep it together”—instead, you’ll be supported in showing up exactly as you are.
Q: Can I stop therapy if I’m not ready to continue?
A: Yes. You’re in charge of your therapy journey. If you ever feel unsure, stuck, or ready to pause, we’ll talk about it openly. There’s no pressure—just partnership.
Q: Will you tell me what to do, or help me figure it out myself?
A: My role isn’t to give you all the answers, but to help you uncover them in a way that makes sense to you. I’ll offer guidance, tools, and reflection—but always with the goal of supporting your clarity and confidence.
Q: How do you work with people who’ve had negative experiences in therapy before?
A: I hold a lot of care for clients who come in with past hurt or skepticism. We’ll move at a pace that feels safe, rebuild trust slowly, and create something new together—on your terms. Your story matters here, and I’ll hold it with the care it deserves.
